The next few weeks are an exciting part of the FBLA year! Here's a rundown of what to know about our chapter happenings this month:
SLC TESTING
Last Wednesday, our qualifiers from RLC Testing Competitive Events took their tests for the State Leadership Conference. The top 10 finalists are recognized at the SLC awards ceremony, and the top 4 will qualify for this year's National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California! Good luck to everybody who competed!
MARCH MEETINGS!
We will be having our meetings for March in E109 on March 7th and 9th. If you are attending State Leadership Conference, please plan to come early to talk to the advisers and officers about SLC plans, and don't forget to pick up your FBLA blazer in order to compete (you could lose up to 20 points if you don't wear official FBLA competitive event attire!).
STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
As you all probably know by now, SLC is from March 12th to 14th (next week!!!) in Athens, Georgia. We will be leaving on Sunday (location and time TBD) and coming back on Tuesday after the second awards program and NLC meeting. Competition is on Monday, so even if you cannot stay for the entire conference, please plan on coming to Athens on Monday for your event! (Unfortunately, we have to subtract 10 Honor Cord Points for no-shows, and WHY WOULD ANYBODY PASS UP THE CHANCE TO COMPETE FOR A SPOT IN SoCal THIS SUMMER???). If you took a test, and would like to know how you did, come to the Classic Center in Athens on Monday night to see if you'll be on stage for your event(s) (don't worry, we will let you know on Tuesday if you won anything).
OFFICER APPLICATIONS
Officer Applications have been sent out in a previous email, and are due on March 15th (next Wednesday). They will also be posted on the website in the next few days, and we may place a few copies on our bulletin board in the next few days. Being an officer is a rewarding way to make your mark on our FBLA chapter and serve/lead your fellow classmates and members (based on personal experience, if you are dedicated to this club, please apply!). Additional info TBD at our upcoming meetings.
FINAL MEETING & T-SHIRTS!
At our final meeting of the year in April, we will distribute t-shirts, recognize our Honor Cord recipients and those who earned the most points throughout the years, and announce our new officers for the 2017-18 school year. With exciting announcements, food, t-shirts, and more, this is definitely a meeting you would not want to miss!
That's all folks! Stay tuned for more information and news from us, especially as we prepare to attend the State Leadership Conference next week in Athens!
